Yamamori's glorious sides

I am a sushi fiend. I am quite sure I could happily live off good sushi for the rest of my days (if you can arrange this, let me know).

Dublin thankfully has a handful of places offering good sushi. The Yamamori empire is one of those. Over the last fortnight, I've ended up in Yamamori Sushi on the quays and Yamamori Noodles on George's St.

I hadn't been in quite a while opting for Musashi on Capel St to scratch my sushi itch of late. The menus have changed, at a glance slimming down the level of choice across the board. With it are some new, lovely additions to the side dishes two of which inspired me to share the spoils.

Prawn Dumpling Soup

In Yamamori Sushi, I took a punt on the Prawn Dumpling Soup to accompany my norimaki. It was simply gorgeous. Freshly steamed prawn dumplings are served in a bowl surrounded by beautiful shitake mushrooms and pak choi. In the centre is a small flask of warm creamy, coconut & lemongrass soup which the server pours over the top.

As soups go, a smidge on the rich side but absolutely delicious. I'm afraid I was too busy enjoying it to photograph it so take my word for it!

Seafood wasabi with pepper sauce

I ended up taking a chance on this when I realised the amazing Prawn Dumpling Soup wasn't available in Yamamori Noodles on George's Street. Title is a bit odd but the description won me over. From the menu:

Stir fried mussel, scallop, prawn, asparagus and wild mushroom in a mellow wasabi and cream sauce.

Seafood wasabi with pepper sauce

Beautiful earthy flavours that just sing together. Can be got as a side portion (above) or main. Possibly a bit rich for a main although it wasn't as creamy as I feared, but that moreish taste might get you through. Highly recommended!
